I notice the small things.

I notice the small things.

I notice the small things.

I’m Vishal, a product designer at HFI. I design products for Tata Play and Dell, and I build some of my own. I started as an engineer, so I care about how things are made as much as how they look.

Using AI to explore, not to decide

The small things

Details most people never notice, but feel.

Small things in products I use every day that I can’t stop noticing. Each one is simple, and each one feels right.

iOS · Liquid Glass

Glass that behaves like glass

It bends and blurs what’s behind it the way real glass would, so layers feel physical, not painted on.

macOS · Motion

The speaker that runs out of room

At full volume the bar can’t grow any more, so the speaker gives a tiny bump. It says “that’s the max” without a word.

iOS · Widget

A clock that knows it’s night

Each face turns dark or light with the local time, so before calling Mumbai or Toronto I can see if it’s a sensible hour.

Things I’ve built

Designed it. Shipped it.

AI helps me explore more ideas, faster. The taste, the judgement and the last 10% are still mine.

The one percent

“There is a one percent chance, and sometimes that chance is good enough… Are you willing to give absolutely everything that you have to make that one into 10, and then grow that 10 into 30?”

Virat Kohli

He has been my idol for 18+ years, and I’ve lived by this. Give everything to the one percent, and something good usually comes out of it.

I’m a bit quiet in person. Much easier over email.
